Piecework

Purpose:
Piecework is the annual literary magazine of Bentley College. Each year, the Literary Society produces this collection of student works.

My role:
My role in this project was that of designer, editor, and producer. I was responsible for every aspect of the journal's production. This included the initial concept and design, calling out for submissions, collecting submissions, evaluating submissions (with the help of 2 others), the actual layout of the pages, and the arrangements for its printing and launch on April 27, 2000.

Tools used:
Paint Shop Pro for the graphics, PageMaker for the layout

Duke University Computer Recommendations 2001-02

Purpose:
This flyer was part of a folder of information distributed to incoming freshmen, describing what type of computer they should have.

My role:
I designed the layout for the flyer and edited the content provided to me.

Computing Survival Guide

Purpose:
The Computing Survival Guide was an instructional booklet included with a CD developed by the Duke University Office of Information Technology. The main audience was incoming freshman, but the CD was also distributed to some returning students and faculty.

My role:
I designed the layout of the booklet and put together the final product, as well as wrote some of the content and edited the remaining. Also, I worked directly with the publishing company producing the CDs. In addition to the booklet, I also designed the CD sleeve and label.

eSource

Purpose:
eSource was a technology newsletter distributed to incoming freshman and in the Duke University computer labs.

My role:
I adapted the layout of another newsletter for this project. I edited and placed all content and arranged for its printing.

Duke University Lab Posters

Purpose:
"What is AFS" and "Puzzled?" were two posters developed for display in the Duke University Computer labs.

My role:
I designed these posters, including content, and arranged for their printing. Extra large signs on foamboard were also produced.
